This Autumn Wonderland – Okay, yes we’re in the throes of summer, but we just can’t help but long for autumn right now. And what’s better than enjoying the autumn season on foot or in the city you ask? Oh, you know, just enjoying it from a mansion nestled into these magically autumn-sprinkled mountains. We know, we know: we really want to spend even just one night here, too. This photo has everything: the autumn colors, the beautiful living quarters, the perfectly rustic fence. All that’s missing is a warm cup of coffee and fleece blanket by a fireplace.
This Grown Up Treehouse – We so wish that we were scurrying up that little bridge to tuck ourselves away in this treehouse for the night. There’s nothing more peaceful than getting to escape to the woods for a while; now imagine if you had this treehouse retreat. You could enjoy the quiet of the forest all while sitting beside the fire and reading your favorite book for the dozenth time—and you wouldn’t even have to worry about bug bites!
This Magical Fairyland – We’re not kidding when we say fairyland; friends, behold Fairy Pools in Isles of Skye, Scotland. We didn’t even know this place existed until a few minutes ago—which probably adds another layer of wonder, mystery, and charm to this place—but now we’re already checking out flights to Scotland. This serene little getaway looks like it’s been left completely untouched by civilization. And we must admit—after reviewing some photos of this place, it really does look like you could spot a fairy any moment. This reminds us more of Neverland than anything on this Earth—all that’s missing is Peter Pan!
This Book-Lover’s Getaway – If you love to read, just try to tell us that this library-turned-bedroom didn’t make you swoon. Just imagine what it must smell like in that room, too. Falling asleep in the middle of the day with the aroma of old books filling up your senses? Now that’s an offer we wouldn’t be able to refuse. Bring a couple of snacks with you and you would never have to get out of bed. Finished with one book? Onto the next!
This Red-Rock Wonderland – Take it from someone who grew up with these mountains in their back yard: you definitely wish you were at Zion National Park in Utah right now. With countless hiking trails and and climbs to take part in, this place will get you appreciating the outdoors and wishing you could stay there forever. Zion is massive, and standing in the shadows of these mountains is a truly humbling experience. Go; you won’t regret it.
This Cat Cafe – Yes, you guys, you heard us right: a cat cafe. This photo is of one of the numerous cat cafes that have popped up all over Japan beginning in the 1990s. These cafes are thought to be deeply therapeutic for those who visit. Many people who frequent the cat cafes are people working 9-5 jobs who either want to relieve their work stress or work in a relaxing environment. These heaven-sent cafes are starting to spring up all over the globe with a handful of them finally starting up in the U.S. this year. Be sure to go for a visit if there’s one near you; we’d go all the time if we had one!
This Island Overtaken with Pigs – Speaking of cute animals and places we would rather be right now, let’s talk about Pig Island. Also known as Pig Beach or—formally—Big Major Cay, this island that is inexplicably over-run by swimming pigs is in the Exuma region of the Bahamas. Because what else would you expect from your vacation in the Bahamas? White sandy beaches, beautiful sunsets, crystal clear water…oh, and some pigs begging for food. There are lots of rumors about how the pigs made it to the uninhabited island, but we think it’s best left a mystery. Forget swimming with dolphins—we want to swim with the pigs!
This Fairytale Castle – You guys, if we could spend the rest of our lives at this castle there would never be anything to complain about. (Except maybe that we wouldn’t be able to just yell across the house to get someone’s attention.) Yes, this fairytale castle is real; not only is Neuschwanstein a real nineteenth century castle that was constructed on a mountaintop in Bavaria, Germany, but it was also the inspiration for Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a prince or princess, you’ve gotta make it to this place. We strongly encourage doing some research on the castle and looking through some interior photos; the castle has been painstakingly and beautifully preserved and it takes very little imagination to know what it must have been like in its glory days. We wish we were there right now!
This Wondrous Wisteria Garden – We may just start crying over how beautiful these places are and how badly we want to be there now instead of at work! This stunning walkway can be found in Fukuoka, Japan at the Kawachi Fuji Gardens. If we could get paid to sit under this wisteria all day every day, that would just be great. Imagine getting to sit under these blossoms for a while, relaxing until you really start to hear the world around you; the sounds of crunching gravel under the feet of couples passing by, the gentle rustle of the blossoms of the wind, the sound of your own relaxed breathing as you enjoy the scenery. Okay…yep…we need to be here now.
This Hidden Gem of a Cove – That’s it: we’re packing up and headed to Asia. This tranquil hideaway can be found in Thailiand; Maya Bay offers a small secluded beach that can be reached by boat; with mountains and rock faces and figures rising right out of the ocean, this place has they best of everything. On top of that, you really can’t beat that clear water; just imagine snorkeling or sunbathing in a canoe or on your back in this hidden body of water. We want to be here so badly we can almost hear the sounds of lapping water an rustling palm trees. Who wants to buy our airline tickets?
