How to track keywords in Google Analytics

If you want to track the keywords that people use to find your site in Google Analytics, there are a few different ways that you can do this. The most straightforward way is to simply look at the “Keywords” report under “Acquisition” in Google Analytics. This will show you all of the keywords that people have used to find your site, as well as some other information like how many times each keyword was used and what percentage of total traffic it represented.

However, this Keywords report has some limitations. First, it only includes data for keywords that drove organic traffic (traffic from searches) to your site. It does not include data for other types of traffic, such as paid traffic or direct traffic. Second, the Keywords report only includes data for the top 1,000 keywords (or whatever number you specify). This means that if you have a large website with a lot of traffic, there is a good chance that some of the keywords people are using to find your site are not being included in this report.

To get around these limitations, there are a few other ways you can track keyword data in Google Analytics. One option is to create custom segments for different types of traffic (including organic traffic), and then look at the Keywords report for each segment separately. This will give you more detailed keyword data than looking at the overall Keywords report. Another option is to use Google Tag Manager to set up tracking codes specifically for tracking keyword data. This approach requires a bit more technical knowledge than using custom segments, but it gives you much more flexibility in terms of what kind of keyword data you can collect and how you can view it within Google Analytics.
